Our popular twice baked seasonal croissant is now a regular variety! We take fresh pistachios grind them up and make a delicious cream which is then smeared inside a fresh baked croissant combined with blackberry jam. Then we pop it back in the oven for round two of baking.
The idea for the White Lotus businesses evolved organically, over more than a decade, as members of the Tsogyelgar Buddhist Community explored ways to live creatively and according to Buddha’s teaching on Right Livelihood. Members of the community enjoyed working in our collective kitchen garden and educated themselves in the best methods of organic gardening through a lot of trial and error. Others took cheese making or soap making classes for fun or apprenticed and worked in an artisanal bakery to learn the craft of bread making and improve upon it. Another attended pastry school. Their efforts resulted in an abundance of goodness, more than our community needed, and allowed us to make significant donations to Food Gatherers and other charities. Over time it became clear that we had enough skilled and hard working people to start a business, so in 2011 the White Lotus Bakery, Creamery and produce businesses were started. We started small at farmer’s markets and things have grown from there. We have, over the years, made connections with other farmers and businesses that we value and we greatly enjoy supplying the Ann Arbor and surrounding area with delicious, unique and lovingly made food and self care products. We are so grateful for our wonderful and loyal customers, especially in the past year. Our customers are truly the best!
